  • I started working as a social worker for residents with developmental disabilities at Liberty Living LLC
  • My role was to facilitate learning opportunities and validate productive behavior
  • As well as discourage destructive behaviors
  • Mostly this was accomplished through accommodations, social stories and
  • Modes of communication that are specific to each individual resident
  • Safety was also facilitated and maintained as the residents required overnight supervision
  • And 24 hour care by staff
  • Preparing meals, coming up with activities to do for the day and managing disagreements
  • Between residents were regular needs
  • Much of the work required patience and specific boundary setting skills which I have become much more accustomed to since starting
  • These are skills that should translate well to the education field as well as teaching in the classroom specifically.

  • This position required daily meeting covering the proposed projects for the day, organizing the schedule, calling employees off when we had too many scheduled for the day, monitoring data collected to make sure we were meeting our daily requirements and listening and coaching employees on how to conduct the research professionally without bias.

  • Dealt with angry respondents and acquired the communication skills needed to keep respondents on task and finishing the goal at hand.

  • Worked with customers who submitted interest for remodeling work on our website and other affiliated websites
  • Specifically I would call these leads to make sure their interest in our contractors was smooth and all of their contact information was correct
  • Moved to making follow up calls to customers who either got estimates from our contractors or maybe fell through the way side and didn't actually get the information they wanted
  • Started conducting research by day to see if people answered more frequently at certain times of the day and to organize the leads we received into time zones.
