Engineering Technician

  • Perform work assignments from engineers and managers verbally, through drawings, and with new designs.
  • Insert fibers into the capillary without breaking or crossing, using the insert tool, striper, cleaver, caliper, tweezers.
  • Seal bundles using epoxy and solvents, such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and acetone, to clean properly.
  • Make bundles of fibers using a taper machine based on the setup software, and calculating the recipes.
  • Based on the behavior of the equipment, using knowledge, understanding, and math to calculate for adjustments or create new taper recipes for new combiner designs to ensure meet the tight tolerances as required.
  • Splice and assemble combiners using a splicer machine and a recipe with the right power.
  • Handle and transfer small parts to the next station or housing without breaking, and with zero tension.
  • Install hardware, gaskets, and screws to the housing using a torque wrench.
  • Operation testing combiners, following the setup table chart made by engineers.
  • Packaging, printing labels, and preparing data documents to get ready for internal shipping.
  • Work with process engineering to manage specific processes and continuous process improvement to increase profits.
  • Use a computer to communicate and obtain information, including drawings, data entry, Excel, materials inventory, and certification of training (Litmos).
