- As Exhibition Host, I am responsible for providing a friendly and educational experience to all Guests. I engage with Guests throughout the exhibition by providing tours and other educational programs. I work directly with the security team to ensure integrity of the art and customer intervention.
- Duties include maintaining and controlling an even flow of all visitors, advancing Guest's knowledge, and answering questions, while promoting a positive and professional environment for all Chihuly Garden and Glass Team Members and Guests. The Exhibition Host also has the duty of protecting the art and approaching the guest(s) that break the rules with de-escalation skills, respect, and kindness. An additional responsibility is preparing for the opening of the Museum. This includes ensuring the Museum is ready for visitors before the doors open.
- As an experienced core member of the team, I train new employees in knowledge and procedures needed to become a successful exhibition host.
- The tours I provide are memorized and presented to up to 60 people at a time. I cover the biography of the artist, knowledge of the artist's inspiration, and glass blowing techniques. During the slow months these are thirty minute tours, and during the busy season I present up to four out of the seven 10 minute talks for each specific gallery.
- Additionally, I joined a mentorship program in the Chihuly Museum Graphic Design department for six months. I learned the ins and outs of what everyday would look like, sharing resources, project management advice, and receiving critique on personal graphic design work.
