Troubleshoot any issues that occur during processing, microtomy, routine and/or special staining; Research, optimize and validate new antibodies; stay current on CAP regulations and ensure compliance with all checklists; write new standard operating procedures (SOPs) and edit existing SOPs; assist clinicians with research projects; troubleshoot and maintain instruments; coordinate proficiency testing surveys from receipt to entry of results; monitor RISE and IQE events and determine if corrective action/preventative action is required; maintain inventory databases; assist in education and training, including the completion of annual competencies; work with vendors to ensure operational needs are met; complete LIS validations and maintain equipment interface.
Tissue processing, embedding, paraffin sectioning, H&E staining, special staining, specimen receipt and accessioning, laboratory information system operation, Quality Assurance record keeping, instrument maintenance and other technical duties as assigned, including coverage in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory as determined by the Lab Manager.
Microtomy, H&E, immunohistochemistry (IHC), ISH, automated and manual special stains, enzyme histochemistry, cryostat/frozen sections, grossing, embedding, cytology, validations, qualifications, antibody lot testing, troubleshooting, tissue processing, ordering supplies, maintain monthly QC logs, communicate with doctors and other departments to resolve discrepancies.
