Work History

Senior Scrum Master

CVS HEALTH CORPORATION
Alpharetta, GA
10.2018 - 10.2023

Primary focus was to raise Agile awareness and maturity by teaching SAFe classes (“SAFe for Teams”, “SAFe Scrum Master” and “SAFe Advance Scrum Master”), provide one-on-one Scrum Master training and co-lead the transformation of the Scrum Master Community of Practice (CoP) organization. Assisted in interviewing prospective scrum masters and development engineers. Worked with the company’s Agile coaching group to produce workshops, such as facilitation, to help mature the company’s scrum master staff. Additionally filled in as an interim RTE when the need arose. Was Scrum Master of 2 to 4 dispersed teams that organizationally spanned 2 to 3 Agile release trains (ART).
• Gained the ICP-ACC (Agile Coach Certification) in April of 2023 to round out my skills as an Agile Coach.
• Gained the SAFe RTE certification to be able to assist RTEs when needed in various areas and formed leadership triads to focus on improvement outcomes from teams’ retrospectives. Was the interim RTE for the 2021.PI1 PI Planning event and was responsible for running the event for a train of 7 teams.
• Led the Architectural team to transform to a Kanban flow process for their work. This improved their delivery to Agile teams and allowed the Architectural team to focus on what is needed and deliver work products on time.
• Successfully transitioned to different Scrum teams due to value stream mapping of the organization. This helped the impacted teams and organization to not get interrupted with things tied to purpose and process re-alignment.
• Active in several company CoPs focusing on scrum mastery and Agile metrics.
• Was involved heavily in re-imagining and re-branding CVS’s Scrum Master CoP. This resulted in roughly 80% attendance by the SM community at CVS and an uptick in community participation.
• The bulk of my teams worked on service/microservice layers using AWS and GCP focusing on either IoT or identity access for cloud implementation.

  • Did resume, phone screenings, and interviews for close to 200 Scrum Master candidate for Aetna (CVS).
  • Assisted teams in defining their Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD) and team working agreements. This allowed teams to unify around the question of "what does finished quality look like".
