I am a self motivated person, who learns quickly. Once a job has been learned, I take it upon myself to constantly find ways to do the job more efficiently, and more effectively.
I am not afraid of change or changing things. Just because something has always been done a certain way, doesn't mean there isn't a better way to do it.
As the IT liaison, whenever possible, solutions to emergent problems are immediately needed. When problems aren’t able to be resolved immediately, ITSD is contacted, for resolution. Throughout my time as an IT contact, my knowledge of ongoing issues and their solution has increased, and the need to contact
ITSD for solutions has decreased.
As a Supply Manager I, at Tipton Correctional Center, I have been responsible for maintaining proper levels of
supplies needed for anything from Food Service products to Cleaning Supplies to Toilet Paper.
During this process, there has been an active level of minimalization occurring. Products that are not used or
haven’t been used for extended periods of time, have been either eliminated or will be eliminated by virtue of
attrition.
Additional duties have included surplusing items that are brought to the Warehouse by other institutional
departments, and ensuring proper paperwork is available upon request.
Staffing responsibilities have included supervising three Storekeeper II’s. The Storekeeper II’s are in charge of
Canteen, Food Service Warehouse, and Clothing Issue. Previous experience in each of these areas has given me
insight to their varied processes, which allows me to present informed questions and answers when issues arise.
As a Storekeeper II, I gained experience ordering needed supplies for Clothing Issue, the Food Service Warehouse and Office Supply areas. This included soliciting bids from contracted vendors that are listed on the MoBuys and OA websites as well as the MVE website.
With the current Supply Manager, readying for retirement in a few months, an opportunity arose to learn his job while he was still available to answer questions. With this opportunity, I was able to further my knowledge of the Warehouse structure and procedures to prepare myself for the upcoming job opening.
Processed offender property upon arrival from/transfer to another institution, as well as when an offender is on an outcount or preparing for release into the community.
Developed and maintained electronic records of offender property/contraband stored in the Property Room. Processed offender mail that can’t go through normal mail channels. Worked and communicated with various institutional departments (Classification, Grievance Office, Records, Business Office, Administration) to help resolve offender issues.
Random and target searches of offender property and living areas to reduce the amount of contraband that any given offender has. Order supplies as needed.
Leadman responsibilities included creating a work schedule based on a production schedule, ensuring that production lines were staffed for production maximization. Payroll was another responsibility of the Leadman, as they had to enter vacation hours , call-in hours, as well as track "points" for attendance and disciplinary reasons. Payroll had to be submitted in a timely manner to the personnel clerk, and discrepancies, if any, had to be addressed immediately.
In the Operator Mechanic position, I was responsible for repairing, operating, and following a Preventative Maintenance(PM) program for this Plastics Packaging plant. This not only involved physical repair, it required constant communication with Plant Engineers and outside contractors.
