Hardworking husband, father and Army Veteran, who was working nights and weekends at 2 bay area Restaurants and taking care of my 2 young kids, who are 6 and 4 years old now, full-time during the week while my wife worked her day job. That was before the Covid-19 lockdowns happened in 2020. Once the lockdowns happened I decided that I wanted to give computer programming try and that has lead me to this point. My programming skills have increased exponentially over the last 4 years and I am hungry to keep growing and learning. I will be finishing my Computer Science degree at Cal State East Bay in the Fall and would be so happy and grateful to get internship experience over the summer. I have been working since I was 16 years old, so I know how to be part of team and I am ready to work and learn.
I worked under the lead architect designing the data schematic for the project we were working on. In my role had to become very familiar with the structure of the Data pipeline that was in place for the Sephora website. The data engineer team were working on updating the Sephora website to offer a more personalized shopping experience for beauty offers members. The project involved moving data to 15 or more different micro services to get the data to the services needed to process the users data and deliver recommendations based on a set of specific parameters. In this project I worked with and was exposed Java, Spring Boot, Microsoft Azure, Redis Cache, Apache Kafka and Agility software development cycle. It was a lot of fun, hard work and a very rewarding experience.
I took care of my cousins kids full-time. There was a 5 y/o girl and 3 y/o twin boys. A particular challenge in this position is one of the little twin boys had autism. I really didn't plan on doing this for such a long time, but I got hooked and was just so involved in Collin's development that I felt I had to continue with the work we were doing to try and help him.
Now that I have my own kids I really appreciate this time that I spent taking care of these kids and learning.
