  • I accepted the position of headmaster replacing the founding headmaster. Davidson Academy was established in 1980 as a PreK-12 private interdenominational Christian independent school. At the end of my tenure, DA enrolled over 700 students with over 100 faculty and staff. During my time at DA, I was blessed to build wonderful relationships with students, parents, faculty, and administrators. In collaborating with each group, I led the effort to implement strategic moves to reverse a ten-year trend of declining enrollment while enhancing the academic, fine arts, and athletic programs.
  • Worked closely with trustees and the school administration to develop a positive, nurturing, and encouraging environment.
  • Adopted the “variable tuition” marketing plan to strategically market and utilize financial assistance.
  • Initiated a student advisory program for grades 7-12 with an intent to provide students with additional advocacy, character development, and community service opportunities.
  • Responsible for all facets of the school’s operations, policies, and programs.
  • Expanded the academic offerings with more STEAM offerings in each division.
  • Added learning specialists for each division enhancing learning support for all students.

  • Pulaski Academy is a preK-12 independent school widely regarded as one of the best independent schools in the state of Arkansas. I focused upon building trust among the entire faculty, building relationships, and establishing high standards for instruction.
  • Consistently received high marks on my evaluation from the Head of Academics and Student Life.
  • Built strong relationships with the lower and middle school administration to enhance curriculum vertical alignment and bridge the divisions in all areas.
  • Developed a faculty professional development and evaluation process to enable a more collaborative, supportive, and engaged process with department heads and faculty.
  • Worked closely with the college counseling office to understand how to best support our students’ postsecondary aspirations.
  • Restructured the Upper School daily schedule to include a morning break. While not diminishing classroom time, this allowed students to purchase breakfast with healthy options while increasing revenues for the food service.
  • Improved the operational efficiency of the high school by consistently operating within budget.
  • Sustained a 91-93% retention rate during my tenure.
  • Increased the number of elective offerings in STEM, Arts, and each of the major subject areas.
  • Created the US leadership team which included the Dean of Students, Department Heads, College Counselor, and Director of Technology to proactively address challenges and listen to their valuable input.
  • Served two years as our school’s spokesperson and voting representative to the Arkansas Activities Association (state athletic governing body).

  • Hired to reestablish the Battle Ground Academy (BGA) football program as a competitive program. BGA is a prestigious PreK-12 private school located in Franklin, TN. The school has a strong academic and athletic tradition dating back to the late 1800’s. I was eventually named the Athletic Director overseeing all athletic programs.
  • As AD, supervised all aspects of the athletic programs including buildings and grounds, personnel, budgets, communications, and compliance.
  • Worked closely to build a supportive approach among coaches and players.
  • Supervised and managed an athletic budget just under $200,000. With attention to detail and strategic planning, reduced the operating budget by ten percent during my first year.
  • Highly involved in interviewing, hiring, and advising many teachers, coaches, and administrators during my tenure.
  • Routinely communicated with parents, media, student-athletes, faculty, administration, and the state officials assuring compliance and good public relations.
  • Successfully built a competitive football program with many victories over the traditional elite programs in the state of Tennessee despite having the smallest enrollment in our classification.

  • My wife, Julia, is a licensed professional counselor. She has a private practice in our hometown. She also holds a master’s degree in counseling and is a certified brain injury specialist. We have two children, Lauren (husband Joe) and Nicholas, and one granddaughter, Jaden – and two four-leg “children” Vito our golden retriever and Johnny Cash our Bombay cat. In our spare time, we enjoy hiking, pickleball, tennis, travel, reading, and especially spending time with family and friends.
