As a Slot Supervisor, I am responsible for providing guidance to my frontline staff. This comes in many forms, including, but not limited to answering questions, keeping them informed of promotional events happening, helping them with paperwork, correcting errors, authorizing large or manual transactions, as well as disciplining them if necessary. It is my job to ensure the gaming floor is running smoothly and at the highest percentage of availability possible. Other responsibilities include customer disputes and satisfaction, whether it be a pay table explanation, a game recall to further explain what happened, or issuing a comp for dinner, all while keeping a calm and collected demeanor. It is important to keep guests happy and engaged in play. It is equally important to ensure that guests are not trying to launder money or evade taxes. On the backside of things, I am running reports on games, keeping my staff files up to date, taking phone calls and assisting my Director when needed. I do my best to keep my peers informed of any ongoing events or problems we may be experiencing. Communication is very important to me and our company, within my department and beyond. Working with other departments to accomplish bigger goals is always a fun and challenging experience for me, and I assert myself whenever and wherever possible. On good example would be the Summer Slot Tournaments we have had the last wo summers, which we are highly involved in making happen. Overall, it is my highest priority to keep our department informed and running smoothly because of our communication and dedication to our company.
As a licensed Real Estate Agent, I enjoy working with clients to make some of the biggest decisions of their lives. I am sure to keep their budget as my top priority, while identifying their specific needs and wants, based on location, size, acreage and amenities. I enjoy this more as a hobby than a full time commitment, as I work full time as a Slot Operations Supervisor. I consider it to primarily be advanced coordinating, with knowledge of the ever-changing housing market. Here are some of things I do:
I went back to being a part time Slot Attendant just before having my second child, to have more time at home and a more accommodating schedule. I continued right where I had left off, back to engaging with my regular guests that were happy to have me back waiting on and interacting with them. They enjoyed watching me grow and increase my knowledge, knowing I would use it to take of them in the most direct and efficient way.
As a Slot Repair Technician, I continued down the path of increasing my knowledge of the gaming industry. I dove a little deeper on the mechanical aspect, learned about software installation, which I had seen many times in my attendant roll, being interested from the beginning of my career. I learned how to solder and repair boards, replace bulging caps, rewire molex plugs, replace buttons, boards, monitors, power supplies and even the CPU's. I learned to program or update bill validators and printers with the newest versions and how to pair them with different manufacturers. It was a fun and exciting addition to my already deep understanding of the slot machines and changing technologies.
During this time I was lucky enough to see the gaming industry transform from coin and tokens to ticketing. It was a great experience, especially the transition to the new building we know today. Putting in long hours with the technicians to prepare and set around 1200 games, installing locks and player tracking, setting up options, mounting them to bases and eventually bill and ticket testing. It was rewarding to see the casino's soft opening with all of the tribal members getting their first look. It truly warms my heart to be a part of such an historical marker in the GTB story.
My general duties included paying jackpots, filling printer paper, taking care of bill and ticket jams, minor repairs on games and most importantly customer service of many kinds! Taking care of cash exchanges and ticket cashing when we carried up to $10,000 and a mobile scanning device, created player's club accounts, printed cards, served drinks, ordered and delivered food from the Deli and even inquired about comps to keep players happy and playing. I worked closely with other departments, as well as my Supervisors and the technicians on duty to keep the gaming floor running smoothly, whether it was moving games, running reports or just cleaning up after guests. Teamwork and ever-changing technology kept it fun and interesting.
As a way to begin my career at Turtle Creek Casino, I started as Casino Housekeeper, which was all that was available in my search to find employment with insurance benefits. I was happy to join the overnight team to keep the casino clean and ready for a new day. My job duties consisted of dusting the tops of games, cleaning and replacing ashtrays, removing trash, vacuuming the entire gaming floor, with co-workers, cleaning and mopping restrooms and offices, along with the employee break rooms. We also did extensive cleaning of the beautiful woodwork that housed the cage area. It was a fun environment and I was happy to be a part of such a great organization.
I became a sandwich artist shortly after moving to this area. I wasn't there long before being promoted to the Assistant Manager, being responsible for inventory, some scheduling, cash on hand, training new employees and maintaining a clean and inviting store. Sanitation and food storage was very important as well. I enjoyed the job and many regular guests. I eventually left because they did not offer any benefits.
During my Supervisor roll at Godfather's, I was responsible for managing a minimum of 3, but up to 5 employees. This included delivery drivers and their specific orders, based on locations, cashiers, salad bar and buffet runners, dishwashers and prep cooks. I manned the oven, made all orders and kept a buffet. I hosted large events, housing dozens of Green Bay Packers fans, located across the road from Lambeau Field. I also controlled parking for such events, as well as selling parking spaces in our lot, to game-goers. Aside from a busy kitchen, I also maintained employee timecards and payroll for about a dozen employees. I helped the manager with weekly inventory and did a full monthly kitchen cleansing. I left this job to return to Michigan.
I have included the many recent certifications to my list of education, reflecting the different online Universities and Colleges I have used through an online platform called Coursera, affiliated with Google.
