  • Responsible for a work force of over 600 employees throughout the production lines, starting from dehusking section, drying section, boiler, Artisans and the factory.
  • My staff members include: Quality assurance officer, Laboratory technicians, Hygiene Supervisor, Dehusking, Drying and Factory supervisors, Head Capitao's for Dehusking, Drying and Factory, Line Capitao's, Dispatch clerks, Store keepers, Boiler supervisors, Artisans & Electricians.
  • My overall responsibility is to monitor & control the whole production process from receiving Nut in husk, Nut in Shell, Storage, Drying, Processing & Dispatch.
  • To Introduce systems for monitoring & verification.

  • As Factory manager, I was responsible for a work force of over 500 employees throughout the production lines, starting from dehusking section, drying section, boiler and the factory.
  • My staff members included: Quality assurance officer, Laboratory technicians, Health severance officer (HSA), Dehusking, Drying and Factory supervisors, Head Capitao's for Dehusking, Drying and Factory, Line capitao's, Despatch clerks, Store keepers, Boiler supervisors, Hygiene supervisor.
  • To ensure all procedures for Dehusking and sanitation, receiving of nut in shell (NIS) up to storage in the silo's, were done in accordance with the food safety management system procedures.
  • Reviewing the Food Safety Management System with the Food Safety Team and making necessary amendments to the system.
  • Training employees on food safety.
  • Dealing with company Auditors on the following: Food safety management system, Company accounts - (i.e. expenditure versus Budget, periodic stores stock takes etc.), Labour management and women empowerment committees.
  • Making necessary budgets for the factory for the production season such as: Production material (Packaging), Safety equipment (PPE), Crop production projections such as weekly and monthly projections against targeted season ending budgets, Cleaning chemicals budget for the week and month, Medical examinations budgets against labour numbers.
  • Making sure all departments that are directly involved with production and the factory such as dehusking, drying, Boiler and engineering departments have all necessary equipment and repairs and maintenance are done in good time and preventative maintenance is followed at all times.
  • Planning weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings with staff both on food safety as well as labour welfare and management.
  • Checking and ensuring that all despatch documentation is correctly prepared and filed.
  • Ensuring that the product traceability and control procedure is followed correctly by all staff.
  • Ensuring that food defence and bio vigilance is being followed by all employees and critical control points when it comes to food safety are well maintained and monitored.
  • Ensure that monitoring and verification procedures are being followed and maintained by all responsible staff members.
  • Ensuring that in case of non-conformance, all corrective action plans in place are being followed correctly.
  • Ensuring that quality monitoring and control procedures are being followed correctly.
  • Ensuring that cleaning and sanitation procedures are well maintained.
  • Ensuring that all packaging material and chemicals for the factory are food grade and with supporting certificates of conformance (COC).

  • Making sure work place discipline is followed by all employees and as a manager maintaining fairness and consistency to all employees when dealing with them.
  • Ensuring that water supply is well monitored and treated for all possible contaminants.
  • Ensuring that all staff members are well trained, motivated, delegated and supported on their daily duties.
  • Eastern Produce Malawi LTD (EPM) is a Multi-national agriculture company, and a subsidiary of Camellia PLC. EPM specialises in Tea and Macadamia farming.
  • In 2015, I managed to reduce coliform laboratory results to zero for the whole season production and we closed that season with zero non-conformances for the Laboratory. This was achieved with the help of the Food Safety Team effort and employee trainings of personal hygiene.
  • In 2018 I worked hand in hand with Mr. Andrew Thorneycroft (AGM) who was the food safety team leader at the time in reviewing the food safety management system, we reviewed the whole system managed to upgrade the system from ISO 22000 to FSSC 22000 with zero Non-conformance / non -compliance.
  • I managed to get 3 promotions within a stretch of 3 years as follows: 1st Year, Assistant factory manager, 2nd Year, Factory Manager, 3rd Year, Senior Factory Manager.

Accomplishments

    in 2015 as a Food safety team leader together with the team, we managed to upgrade the Food safety management system ISO 22000 to FSSC 22000 for Eastern Produce Malawi Company LTD with Zero Non conformances. This was a great achievement as we upgraded the system without any external contractors involved.
