Initiatives Programs

  • Super Saturdays Tutoring Program: Partnered with community members and organizations to create and facilitate a weekend tutoring program that implemented high engagement practices to meet the needs of students demonstrating difficulty in traditional classroom settings.
  • Battle of the Books: Formed team and prepared elementary students to compete against other elementary schools in their knowledge of specified SSYRA books. Coached Tomoka Elementary to being the 1st Elementary School District Champions.
  • Interactive Science Lab: Partnered with GE Engineers and MOAS to set up a hands-on science lab for student use at Tomoka Elementary
  • Cultural Caravan: Facilitated student researched presentations educating school students and stakeholders regarding knowledge of different cultures represented within school community.
  • Little Kids…Big Dreamers: Created a partnership with prominent community members to educate children on a variety of careers and real world application of concepts being taught in the classroom.
  • Super SATurdays SAT 10 Preparation Camp: Created and implemented tutoring program to prepare students for the Stanford Achievement Test 10. Coordinated diverse population of community volunteers to tutor at-risk students in math and reading. Designed education program to equip students with necessary skills and concepts in reading and math.
  • Super Second Grade Science Series: Created a partnership with Museum of Arts and Sciences to utilize scientific experts in teaching children concepts through hands-on experimentation and discovery.
  • KidFit: Created a partnership with The Links, Inc. to implement programming that educated underprivileged children on the importance of healthy eating and living.
  • T.O.U.Ch Initiative: Created technological opportunities for underprivileged children through integration of ipod touches and ipads in the elementary classroom instruction; Bealls and Whistles for Teachers Grant Finalist for this initiative. Wal-mart grant recipient for this initiative.
