Advanced as a finalist through all the 2003 IMI apprentice competitions and placed 2nd at the national championship in Washington Dc for bricklaying
From the time I was eight years old, masonry has been a part of my life.
For several years, I spent time helping my father and grandfather as they ran their business, Kline Construction.
In 2000, at the age of nineteen, and with a wife and child on the way, I began my apprenticeship with Local 5 where I not only improved my masonry skills, I excelled. I was chosen to compete in the IMI Bricklayer competition where I was a finalist at all levels and ultimately placed 2nd in the nation.
In 2003, I was selected by my apprenticeship instructor to participate in the IMI Masonry camp, in Maine. There, I learned alongside both masonry apprentices and architectural students to better understand both sides of the industry.
By the end of my three year apprenticeship, I was the primary layout man on many FOTI projects, ultimately leading to my promotion to foreman.
As a solo foreman, I have run many large projects, some of which include: the Kay Jewelers Pavilion at Akron Children’s Hospital, the Kent State Architectural Building, Summa Mental Health Hospital, Sharon Center, Watson Elementary School, Bryden Elementary School, and Westfield Center.
