When I started with this company I was hired on as a Front Desk Agent. One year later I was fortunate to be offered the Front Desk Supervisor position where I accepted and earned my CFDM certificate. About a year later I was promoted into management as the Guest Service Manager. Then roughly a year after that I accepted an offer at a sister property as the Assistant General Manager where I have been leading a wonderful team of highly qualified individuals. As far as tasks I have done just about everything from A to Z when it comes to hotel operations, checking in/out guests and maintaining guest satisfaction, supply ordering, hiring, coaching/counseling, employee reviews, and other HR related responsibilities, revenue management, accounts payable/receivable, third-party website review responses, etc.
I started at the beginning of October as a never before painted painter. By the end of the month I was a Foreman. I found out quickly that I'm a natural painter/drywaller. I very much enjoy the pride in the craft associated with this type of work. We worked on all level and types of building from Street of Dream Homes to large commercial buildings to industrial cranes. I started running painting crews for the company. Then also started running drywalling crews. I eventually became the Field Supervisor. As such bI worked with designers, Superintendents, and vendors. My project managing responsibilities ranged from budgeting and estimating to scheduling, ordering, etc.
I actually started this job the day my daughter was born in New York. I was lucky enough to manage a transfer back "home" to the Tukwila Washington branch where I started as an order picker. I then learned shipping/receiving and became a hazardous material shipper. Over the years I learned all aspects of Warehousing. I was eventually presented the opportunity to be trained by Raymond Handling Services through one of their train the trainer programs for power equipment. I taught power equipment classes at the Grainger branches from Fife to Everett. I also became the building inspector. I assisted in a couple new location start ups as far as rack system building and organizing the vendors to set up store displays along with IT staff for inventory system installations.
Since I have done a wide range of jobs I have a wide range of skills I'm great with computers and trouble shooting I have very good "people skills" I'm able to think quickly on my feet and adapt to sudden situational circumstances
As a results driven manager, I helped lead an excellent team to achieve the prestigious M.K. Guertin Award. It's the highest award a Best Western can obtain. We also maintain a number 1 status on Trip Advisor for our market.
