Upon starting with my client, I conducted a comprehensive inventory of their IT infrastructure, learning its intricacies, and identifying over 100 unused Windows Servers and 20 physical servers, which I removed to reduce licensing and utility costs.
- I spearheaded a project to transition seventeen sites from locally hosted IT environments to our five main data centers, resulting in significant savings on licensing, hardware, and management costs. I set up monitoring and management for all UPS devices, HPE Servers, Dell Servers, Windows Servers, and Cisco UCS across all sites using SCOM and other tools.
- My work includes upgrading over 300 servers to more current operating systems, enhancing security, and reducing extended licensing costs. I authored SOPs and knowledge base articles to expedite issue resolution and trained staff on the client's business and IT infrastructure, serving as a mentor to colleagues.
- I consolidated nine Active Directory Domains into one, simplifying management and reducing complexity. Additionally, I developed PowerShell scripts to automate tasks such as generating Active Directory reports, deleting VMware snapshots, exporting user accounts, and performing server maintenance.
- My efforts in optimizing VMware, Windows, and SQL licensing by removing hardware, lowering core counts, and eliminating unused servers resulted in savings of over $100,000. - I consolidated multiple domains into one main domain, collaborating with contractors and application owners to migrate File Servers, Print Servers, SQL Servers, and Application Servers. This involved investigating servers for usage using log files, Wireshark, network monitoring applications, and other tools, decommissioning and removing those not needed, and submitting change requests for server removals. Additionally, I unracked and disposed of old physical servers, keeping the inventory current to track server movements and identifying servers that need to remain local, such as file servers, print servers, and Windchill servers.
- I migrated servers from Windows 2003 to Windows 2012 or 2008 R2, coordinating with application owners to transfer data and upgrading systems such as the Door Control and Badging System with vendor assistance. I also created new servers for our Team Foundation system, ensuring a smooth data migration process.
- As the project lead for the infrastructure team, I installed and configured a new SAP BusinessObjects environment. This involved coordinating with the Network Team, Cloud Team, Business Intelligence Team, and Contractors to deploy and migrate from two old environments to three new environments.
- Leading the Wintel Team in the Muscatine Datacenter Migration to the main Data Center, I significantly reduced the footprint from 18 racks to 3, cutting costs for cooling, power, hardware maintenance, and software licensing. Additionally, I spearheaded the System Center Operations Manager project to monitor all servers, serving as the SME for the tool.
- Notably, I resolved a critical issue that caused over $50,000 an hour in production downtime due to a blue-screening Windows server.

I installed IIS, PHP, and Apache for internal web hosting and set up ABLM.NET for a company acquisition, migrating their databases to our SQL server. I set up group policies to remove domain users from local administrators, changed the local admin account password, and added a second account for backup purposes.
- I managed application updates for server-based applications, tested and installed hotfixes using BigFix to resolve issues with Microsoft servers, and updated all firmware and drivers on HP, Dell, and IBM servers. I installed HP Jet Admin for printer management, fixed the What's Up Gold system for monitoring system status by upgrading the database from SQL 2008 Express to full SQL 2012, and updated the Zix Encryption System from 4.1 to 6.0. Additionally, I wrote and deployed scripts using PowerShell and PSexec to defrag and clean up every computer on the network.

I updated documentation on how to perform a Windows Server Installation and SQL Cluster installation. I installed customer apps on Citrix application servers for the dealers to access.
- Fixed broken windows updates that were being deployed via WSUS and SCCM. The WSUS server was setup incorrectly so I used Microsoft's documentation to fix the setup issues. Some of the clients were broken so I used a combination of registry fixes and client reinstallations to fix those issues.
- Setup and documented better install procedures for Windows, Citrix and SQL servers in Vmware. I cut the time and steps down to deploy servers.

Recovered over 1.06 Terabytes of data from duplicate files and files not needed. On this project we experienced few issues and no outages as I mirrored and made changes to only one subfolder at a time and then each department was notified when to move over to the new folder.

Migrated servers off of 2003 servers to 2012 servers if possible if not to Windows 2008 R2. Migrated file servers including shared and private company data. Provide new servers to application owners and coordinate with them to migrate their data to new servers.
