  • I currently manage daily operations for the equipment procurement, inventory management and maintenance function for Acute Care. I tracks records, licenses, inspections, warrantees, and service agreements for the organization's equipment and tools. I also minimize organizational cost through product standardization and tracking. I tracks quality throughout the product lifetime. I am familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. I've relied on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. I perform a variety of tasks. I sometime lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required to perform daily task. I report typically to a head of my unit/department. During my time here in Acute Care I have carried out complex assignments regarding equipment needs for Acute Care (MSU, TCU, ICU and ED without direction from my managers. I identify excess equipment and report to my manager to confer and place a Turn-in asset request. I work closely with our warehouse shipping and receiving department to coordinate the removal of and receiving of equipment. I also work well with outside vendors such as STYKER when we have purchased Hospital Beds. I coordinate with AGILITI the receiving and returning of rental beds as needed. I work closely with our Nurses to make sure their equipment needs are met. Ensuring that that we have the proper beds for our patient’s needs. I facilitate request for all specialty beds if needed ie. Bariatric, Dolphin bed and Air Fluidized beds for wound care.
  • I have been assigned and am responsible for maintaining the Equipment Inventory List (EIL) for MSU, TCU, ICU and ED which is required to be inventoried annually. I work closely with staff to identify equipment that is in need of repair or replacement and place a service request to the proper department and then follow up on the progress of request. I also request new or replacement equipment using SEPG.
  • I work closely with the VA Safety team to identify hazards and assess the risk and discuss ways to control the risk then record the findings. We also review the controls to ensure that they are working and effective and we update risk assessment records with any changes that are made. I’ve also trained co-workers on identifying hazardous material and taking the proper steps to protect themselves and others as well as identifying chemicals that should not be stored together and who they should notify if discovered.
  • I work closely with the Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) program which involves the use of assistive devices to ensure that patients can be mobilized safely and that care providers avoid performing high-risk manual patient handling tasks which can cause injury to patients and staff. I work with Nurse Educators to establish skill day training dates and times to ensure that staff is update in the use of SPHM equipment, I travel to various NCHCS clinics and CLC to perform the training as needed to keep patients and staff safe.
