Brandon Lewis was assigned to the Salt River Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) and also part of the Central Arizona FBI Safe Trails Task Force. I was responsible for investigating the gang related crimes that occurred within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and the State of Arizona. I have been a certified peace officer for approximately nine years and received training at the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy. I have received training in the area of gang member identification. I have been to Gang Liaison Officer and Advanced Gang Liaison Officer schools, where I was trained to identify and investigate gang motivated/related crimes. I have been a case agent and assisted on numerous investigations such as drive-by shootings, aggravated assaults, threats, intimidation, promoting and assisting criminal street gangs, etc. I have conducted numerous informal and formal interviews and street contacts on gang members from various gangs, including but not limited to gangs originating from surrounding jurisdictions: Mesa, Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale. I have been deputized and empowered by the FBI and United States Marshal's to conduct investigations and make arrests for offenses enumerated in Title 18 and 21 of the United States Code. I was also part of our Special Operations Unit (SOU), where I would train twice a month. The SOU team was responsible for responding to call out situations such as search warrants, barricaded subjects, active shooters, mobile field force and violent fugitives.

I was also part of the field training officer (FTO) program. As a FTO it was my responsibility to supervise new recruits from the academy and lateral officers. It was my duty to help them complete good investigations, follow policy and have good officer safety. I was also part of the Honor Guard team, which consisted of attending funerals and community based events within the Salt River Pima-Indian Community and State of Arizona.
