I have worked in the service industry since the day I turned 14, and could legally get a job. In my time at the Fireside Inn, my main job is serving/bartending. However, in the last 5 1/2 years I have done many other jobs there including the front desk (Checking customers in and out, handling money, balancing the drawer/ making deposits). I use the Point Of Sale system daily and have become quite familiar with it.
I started working at Domino Pizza when I was 17 years old. At the time, I was not only a supervisor, but I was training to become a manager. The plan was that when I turned 18, I would already have all of the knowledge I needed to run the store. I handled all the money, the inventory, scheduling, inventory orders, etc.
After I left Dominos, I started working for my stepdad at Eastwind Diamond Abrasives. We made sanding belts out of diamond dust, all by hand. We made the mixes by weighing out each ingredient and creating recipes for them.
While I was still in school, I attended the tech center in the mornings as a junior. I took the accounting class that was offered, and we ran the school store ( with our teachers' help, of course). After I graduated from high school, I took an accounting class online. I am still interested in the subject and feel like I would have a better time doing the work hands-on.
I am a hands-on learner. I am interested in diving deeper into the accounting world. I do great when I am physically shown how to do things, and I learn fast. I have plenty of customer service experience. Over the years I have learned compassion, patience, conflict resolution, and flexibility.
