Work History

Pool Manager

Fruita Community Center
Fruita, CO
05.2023 - Current
  • During my time as a manager, I have perfected my communication and public speaking skills. Being in this position, I have found it vital to be able to create and organize a plan that can be effectively shared with staff. Problem-solving and conflict resolution is also a major part of management. Listening to my peers and considering their points of view and intentions is super important to keeping a positive work environment. I have also found that I must use the skills I have in my toolset rather than consult my superiors for advice most times. Because each person has a busy job and workload, I have found that I must be able to think independently and apply my training and skills to work through challenging issues.

Water Safety Instructor

Fruita Community Center
Fruita, CO
03.2021 - Current
  • As a water safety instructor, my main job is to teach kids and adults how to first respect and feel comfortable around water, and then teach them how to interact with water safely. Lastly, it’s my job to teach them how to get out of danger if they find themselves in it. I teach the four main strokes to kids; helping them become strong and confident swimmers and preparing them for the swim team.

Lifeguard

Fruita Community Center
Fruita, CO
01.2021 - Current
  • As a lifeguard, we continue to keep the pool clean and safe by maintaining the pool, hot tub, and equipment doing basic repairs and daily chores. Interacting and assisting the public is the majority of our duty as a guard, which is taken very seriously. Safety of the public is our number one priority and our first job is always prevention. Therefore we enforce rules and communicate them with the patrons visiting our pool regularly. It’s an expectation that we use our training and develop good social skills to deal with difficult people or get people out of situations that may potentially lead to danger. During my time as a guard, I have had several saves and have heightened my awareness in group settings. I have also developed the ability to think quickly and respond efficiently to many distressing situations.

This also included installing and fixing signage and posts and helping out the public when necessary.
