Machine Operator

Twin City Foods Inc.
Lake Odessa, MI
07.2013 - 06.2021

Started as a production line worker, checking daycodes, end seams of bags to make sure not opened, & stacking finished product boxes. During season (July-October) we work 12 hours 7 days a week. I sometimes work in the Tsunami lab, doing testing on our green beans, such testing as, making sure they are being fully blanched, taking temperatures, controlling tsunami levels with dials, of minutes & seconds it pumps on & off for. Lots of documentation, and paperwork. I also have ran the Tegra machine's which kick off any bad misc things that don't belong in the green beans. Adjusting numbers to kick off more or less, taking pictures on the machine of stalks, & stems, and blemish's on the beans to teach the machine to kick those off. I was Lead of the Tsunami lab & Tegra Machines and trained lots of employees with my expertise.

Off season, I was a machine operator who runs bagger machines & robots (Bosch, Douglas, Fallas, etc.) that make a bag to package our product. (Frozen vegetables for Meijer, Kroger, etc). I ran a total of 5 machines on my line. Setting up baggers to measure the length and width of bag, placing tubes in machine that fit for the correct bag, setting up daycode that prints on every single bag without missing numbers or letters. Once I get a good bag made for quality to inspect, I set up the erector robot, which folds and glues our tray for the bags to go into. Making proper adjustments to make an expected tray for the bag to be placed in. Loading trays into the erector throughout the day. Then set up the packing robot, which picks up and places the bag in the tray. Making adjustments on the screen to make the bag placed properly in the tray with the proper count of bags. Then set up the lidder, which is the robot that brings the full tray in and places up properly into a box, glues and tapes it. I also load the boxes in this machine throughout the day as well. Once the box comes out folded and glued as expected, it goes through the print heads I set up, that print shop order, time, and daycode on front and back of box. All 5 machines are set up with tools, measurements, preventative maintenance, thought processing for a good productive day with, little to no problems while running. All of this is to be set up in an hour, up and running.

Lifting, bending, and twisting involved with loading boxes, trays, and putting on new rolls of 60+ lb rolls of wrap about every 2 hours. We have 4 lines which all run differently. I have ran all 4 lines. Each line require measurements, adjustments and changing out parts for each type of bag we are running for the day. While also keeping a daily log of the wrap we use per day, roll numbers, times, dates, roll sizes etc.

I have worked here since I graduated high school in 2013. In between running the lines, when needed, I also trained for a position in the office on a computer, creating schedules of what product to run for the day on each line & taking resource booking, keeping on file what amount of cases and wrap we have for each order, how many totes of product used or not used for the day.

  • Detected work-piece defects and machine malfunctions, maintaining machines to prevent future issues.
  • Completed minor machine maintenance, including oiling parts and cleaning components. Set up machines for various jobs to maintain high-quality manufacturing and waste reduction.
  • Basic computer skills such as word, microsoft and programming on Bosch, Fallas, and Douglas machines.
  • Identified machinery issues and repaired parts to keep equipment up and running.
  • Practiced safe lockout-tagout procedures to prevent injury to personnel during maintenance procedures.
  • Accomplished tasks according to schedule and helped struggling team members.
