Accomplishments

  • Named Missouri "Outstanding Young Careerist" by the Business and Professional Women.
  • Awarded a DESE Read to be Ready Grant titled, "Ready, Set, Read!" This grant allowed establishment of the elementary book room containing over 1,200 leveled guided reading sets and over 50 trade book literature sets, purchase classroom supplies (such as magnetic letters for word work and easels for shared writing), establish a professional library for our school, and provide 3 years of on-site staff literacy training.

Community Involvement

  • Member of the Cottey College Wind Ensemble
  • One Sole Purpose Volunteer - a 5K and 10K walk/run held each September. Proceeds of this event are used to buy shoes for all Title 1 elementary students in Springfield, MO.
  • Coordinated "Freedom Fest," a community-wide Fourth of July celebration featuring entertainment, a fireworks display, and free food for the first 1,000 people in attendance. Church of God, Holiness, El Dorado Springs, Missouri
  • Member of the El Dorado Springs Municipal Band since 1978. This group plays on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons each year during June, July, and August.
  • Worked with Cedar County C.H.A.R.T., Bright Futures and Hunger Warriors committees to provide needed resources and weekend snacks for children in need.
  • Employed as event coordinator for the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness) for several years.
