Accomplishments

I had identified facial tissue injuries that were occurring to our ventilated patients when in the prone position. I researched best practice and worked with our pulmonologists, wound care team, nurses and infection control to create a protocol to decrease these facial injuries. This protocol was accepted and I trained all the respiratory therapists in our department on how to properly perform this procedure. In addition, my protocol is now a standard at Providence systems for proning patients while on a ventilator for the respiratory therapist. I was nominated for the prestigious values action award in 2022 related to this protocol.
