Volunteer Experience

  • President of Eureka Gardens Apartments (now Valencia Way Apartments); help type and email letters to leaders throughout the state and local councilman, the Mayor, Sheriff, (Jacksonville Sheriff Officers) HUD, State representative, and the Secretary of HUD; make and receive phone calls for community activities and neighborhood issues. I am a supportive person for the residents, talk to the media for the residents, and help residents with issues that they have with management and living issues. I was on the JALA CAD Board (Jacksonville Legal Aid Client Advisory Board). I testified in the Senate about the unhealthy, unsafe living conditions in the apartment, and the way the owners and office management treated tenants. I also received the 2018 Neighborhood Mayor Award and the 2017 LISC Award. Until January 2019 I was an active member of the HUD Board through the City Council. I am still helping my fellow neighbors and tenants in Valencia Way with any issues that they may need help with about their apartment. I am an Usher, WMS (Women Missionary Society), Women of Virtue, and on the Praise dance team at my church.
