Train and certify school bus drivers in the classroom and behind the wheel. Teach safe driving procedures for school bus driver defensive driving courses, driver improvement clinics and other safety programs. Conduct eye exams for driver education classes. Provide training and certification for commercial driver training instructors. Inspect commercial driver training schools and vehicles for compliance with state and county laws. • Ensured that all policies and laws were followed in the issuance of North Carolina Driver's Licenses, Commercial Driver's License, Learner's permits and ID cards. Followed guidelines for issuance's to legal aliens. Statutory guidelines are followed when confirming court documents, re-instating driver's license from suspensions. Explaining laws and policies to the public as needed. I dealt with a high volume of transactions and used my customer service skills and knowledge of North Carolina Chapter 20 Motor Vehicle laws, identification of road signs, checking vision and observing/evaluating driving skills by riding with the customer in their personal vehicle on a road test in all types of weather. I served as a public adviser to identify any possible health concerns with drivers, advise customers of adjunct service programs available, and ensure applicant data and court ordered information is entered accurately into internal system for reporting. As an examiner I served an important role to reduce wait times and improve customer service. Ensuring we met our mission in providing for customers in other offices, flexibility to travel during the day and overnight on short notice. I was aware of policy, procedure and/or laws to educate customers. I provided "Stellar" customer service and it was utilized in all situations when dealing with the diverse clientele at North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (N.C.D.M.V.) I’m was always professional,friendly and enthusiastic and direct customers to the proper agency or division/section within the D.M.V. as needed to resolve their individual situation. I had a positive attitude and enjoyed serving customers. I am proficient at using Microsoft applications, SADLS, CSTIMS and MORPHO Capture. Familiar with utilizing the databases and internal systems for evaluating information and documents to make determinations for actions. I believe in a team player environment and I am a team player. I have taught/trained new examiners on several occasions and have been told that I am a good teacher/trainer by co-workers and supervisors. As Lead Examiner, and in the absence of the Senior Examiner, I prepared and made bank deposits, reviewed and maintained reports and records. • Duties Summary:
• Officer - Assigned as the Health Sciences Officer that fell under the Special Deployment Unit (SDU) umbrella which is a blend of officers who patrol on bicycles, foot and in vehicles. I answered calls for service, enforced all state and local laws. I conducted crime prevention programming, investigations, conducted surveillance, enforced traffic laws, investigated traffic crashes, criminal law,drug laws and alcohol laws and a host of community policing and/or other law enforcement functions. Analyzed evidence, witness and suspect statements to properly determine at the conclusion of the investigation the applicable Florida statute to charge. Was highly visible, making contacts in the community, with emphasis on areas of higher population, particularly during peak periods. I was involved in community oriented policing, community interaction, proactive enforcement and building rapport and liaisons with Department Heads and other members of the community. My primary objective was to provide a visual officer presence within the University of South Florida Campus, with an emphasis on community oriented policing, community interaction, and proactive enforcement. I have considerable experience in the area of public speaking and regularly spoke to groups ranging from 10 to 700. I have an outgoing friendly demeanor and present a professional appearance and command presence. I have past supervisory experience in managing officers and on several occasions have been the acting supervisor in my supervisor’s absence and the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) of Special Events. I have prior experience in working with the Police Department's Professional Standards Division (Accreditation) and worked directly under the Chief of Police and took part in getting our agency accredited for the first time in the year 2000. I wrote several department policies and procedures which are referred to as Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.).
• Detective (Criminal Investigation Bureau) - Investigated all crimes reported to the Police Department to including white collar crimes, theft, fraud, assault/battery, and sexual assault (rape). Assisted with multi-agency investigations in and outside of Hillsborough County, Florida. I would determine if the incident was criminal or civil in nature. Conducted interviews with witnesses, victims and suspects and listening to and taking notes and evaluating statements of the interview. Prepared case reports based on my investigation of information gathered based solely on facts to determine the correct conclusion by reviewing all the evidence, relevant facts, testimony, the proper criminal for traffic law that was applicable. Ensured all Constitutional rights of each person were being protected throughout the criminal justice process in criminal and civil proceedings. Obtained arrest/search warrants by meeting with state attorneys and judges to approve and sign arrest and search warrant(s). Testified in numerous court proceeding under oath to include criminal, civil hearings and depositions. Liaison for all law enforcement agencies including local,state and federal agencies and the Clerk of Court's office.
• Field Training Officer (F.T.O.) - Experienced Senior Officer that was responsible for the training, management and direct supervision and evaluation of a probationary officer so that each was prepared to function as a solo patrol officer at the conclusion of their training cycle. The training cycle consisted of extensive on the job training and daily performance evaluations by the F.T.O. Responsible for the teaching of Department polices and procedures, supervising and teaching the proper courtroom testimony and preparation for court as well as teaching effective communications when dealing with judges, attorneys, and court staff personnel.
• Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) instructor - Taught women realistic, self defense tactics and techniques that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance while progressing to the basics of hands on defense training.
• Advanced Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Instructor - Taught women who completed Basic R.A.D. program that builds on the techniques and strategies from the the basis level class and adds defenses against an edged weapon and a firearm. Taught prone strategies, multiple subject encounters and even low and diffused light simulation exercises.
• Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Kids Instructor - Taught kids from ages 5 - 17 on home, school and vehicle safety, out and about safety, realistic defense against abduction, good-bad-uncomfortable touch, stranger tricks and self realization of personal power.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) Instructor - Taught C.P.R. to law enforcement officers and civilians in the use of first aid and using an automated external defibrillator (A.E.D.) As part of my duties I was required to work with numerous computer programs and complete comprehensive, complete and detailed reports. I am able to adapt to changing situations that can occur within job assignments, I communicate in a clear and concise manner with coworkers and I am from a team environment and believe in the team player concept.
