  • Ensured that all policies and laws were followed in the issuance of North Carolina Driver's Licenses, Commercial Driver's License, Learner's permits and ID cards. Followed guidelines for issuance's to legal aliens. Statutory guidelines are followed when confirming court documents, re-instating driver's license from suspensions. Explaining laws and policies to the public as needed. I dealt with a high volume of transactions and used my customer service skills and knowledge of North Carolina Chapter 20 Motor Vehicle laws, identification of road signs, checking vision and observing/evaluating driving skills by riding with the customer in their personal vehicle on a road test in all types of weather. I served as a public adviser to identify any possible health concerns with drivers, advise customers of adjunct service programs available, and ensure applicant data and court ordered information is entered accurately into internal system for reporting.   • Duties Summary:
  • Officer - Assigned as the Health Sciences Officer that fell under the Special Deployment Unit (SDU) umbrella which is a blend of officers who patrol on bicycles, foot and in vehicles. I answered calls for service, enforced all state and local laws. I conducted crime prevention programming, investigations, conducted surveillance, enforced traffic laws, investigated traffic crashes, criminal law,drug laws and alcohol laws and a host of community policing and/or other law enforcement functions. Analyzed evidence, witness and suspect statements to properly determine at the conclusion of the investigation the applicable Florida statute to charge. Was highly visible, making contacts in the community, with emphasis on areas of higher population, particularly during peak periods. I was involved in community oriented policing, community interaction, proactive enforcement and building rapport and liaisons with Department Heads and other members of the community. My primary objective was to provide a visual officer presence within the University of South Florida Campus, with an emphasis on community oriented policing, community interaction, and proactive enforcement. I have considerable experience in the area of public speaking and regularly spoke to groups ranging from 10 to 700. I have an outgoing friendly demeanor and present a professional appearance and command presence. I have past supervisory experience in managing officers and on several occasions have been the acting supervisor in my supervisor’s absence and the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) of Special Events.
