I edit reports on the Afghanistan reconstruction that are clear, engaging, and accurate for members of Congress, think tanks, and other national audiences. In editing, I work with writers to showcase their work in the best possible light, while stringently reviewing for grammar, spelling, sentence structure, narrative flow, syntax, and style. I also do substantive editing during the drafting stage, checking for clarity, unanswered questions, and organization.
The editor's role in the Lessons Learned Program was basic copyediting when I came to SIGAR. I expanded it to include the skills listed above. As a writer and reporter with more than four decades of experience, I also on occasion helped research and write portions of LLP reports. I also wrote articles and op-eds for the IG and several of my colleagues, which have been published in professional or academic journals.
