In my seventeen years of nursing, I have become adept at leading teams and managing patient care. My tenure at the Tomah VA Medical Center honed my skills in acute and urgent care, notably enhancing patient outcomes. As a Wound Care Nurse Manager at The Lutheran Home, I significantly improved care plans, showcasing my commitment and organizational skills. My approach blends compassionate leadership with rigorous ethical standards, driving excellence in nursing. These skills are a must in any healthcare setting.
While at the Tomah VA, I held various nursing positions. I worked the Acute Care Unit, Urgent Care, performed EOC rounds, managed and ran the Covid relief RV and Unit.
While performing in these various roles I interacted with patients, team members, doctors and facility management while achieving the best outcomes for patients and staff.
While working at The Lutheran Home, I held the fulltime position of Wound Care Nurse Manager. I cared for anyone in the facility with a wound, rounded with the wound care MD once weekly, taught nurses and certified nursing assistants correct procedures and instructed during new employee orientation.
While there, I created care plans with staff, NP's and MD's, all the while reporting back to the DON and families.
While working at the VA I worked on the Acute Care Unit. At this particular time, the unit was a busy 15 bed unit that took admissions around the clock. I was a charge nurse on the pm shift. We managed telemetry, codes in the entire hospital, ran sleep studies, administered blood products, and detoxed substance abuse patients.
This was a very busy and challenging time for the unit and the hospital. As a leader, I needed to be ready for anything. I supervised nurses, CNA's, and doctors. I also had to report to families and the house supervisor or NOD.
