- Mechanical seals & bearing failures is the majority of our calls but often times gets more involved such as pulling the lid off a multi stage split case pump and swapping in a spare rotor to get them back rolling ASAP
- Perform shaft Laser alignments on all equipment to ensure minimum vibrations is read & bearing, mechanical seals see the longest run time before failures
- Check soft foot & factor in thermal growth for machines that are known to have thermal expansion when in operation
- New pump & motor installs as well as swap outs, realign two machines together per API specs
- Remove pump from field, ship to our pump shop where i head in to do a detailed tear down and inspection of the pump and look for root cause of the failure
- Report back to the customer with as found results
- Full rebuild/modifications if needed and i head back to the customer to install pump, perform shaft alignment & witness startup as well as run time
- Monitor vibrations and check for leaks or high bearing temperatures
- Perform pump oil samples all over Texas as a part or preventive maintenance, Inspect couplings and motor base feet for corrosion or bolting that has became loose due to vibrations or temperature fluctuations
- Bearing Clearances checked on sleeve bearings using plastigauge to ensure proper clearances to shaft
- Experience supervising apprentice mechanics in the shop as well out in the field and providing training and knowledge
