During my assignment as a correctional officer at the Menard Correctional Center, I am also on the E.R.T( Emergency Response Team).
While being employed at the Illinois Secretary of State Drivers Facility as a manager my duties include, distributing daily money from a secure safe, to cashier terminals. I assign employees to work locations, prepare and email employee daily time sheets to SOS Personnel in Springfield, and deny/ approve paid time off for staff. I was also responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the activities of staff engaged in writing drivers license applications,validating cash, credit and check receipts, operating and entering data on assigned computer terminals, operating photo ID/ Drivers license equipment, and administering road exams. I also personally administered road exams when subordinate staff are not available. I am required to attend monthly meetings and maintain phone contact with my Reginal Manager to keep abrest of policy or procedural changes. I determine work schedules of employees, and respond to special problems and answer questions concerning staff functions. I was responsible for preparing employee evaluations, and respond to priorities within the facility in a timely manner. I review and prepare daily facility paperwork and reports to be mailed to Springfield for processing. I am also responsible for the maintenance of the facility to ensure daily operations are not interrupted. I also perform other duties as assigned or required.
My duties and responsibilities include monitoring, controlling, and accounting for incarcerated inmates and civilian visitors while at the Perry County Sheriffs Office detention facility. Perform duties as shift supervisor, directing lower level employees in daily operations. The most important and essential job function of my position is maintaining a positive attitude which includes interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, while maintaining channels of communication between employees and chain of command. Responding politely to customers, delivering customer service, working as team member, and functioning under intense pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. My specific daily duties include, performing inmate head counts at the beginning of assigned shift, ensuring that all inmates are accounted for, while inspecting cell doors and locks for signs of tampering. I prepare daily activity reports and county housing records, detailing all inmates incarcerated within the facility, noting the inmates daily bond reductions if applicable. I also operate the computerized cell security system, which operates all cell doors and showers located inside the cell block. I was responsible for distributing inmate medications at specific intervals throughout my assigned shift, logging the type of medication, dosage, and note if inmate refuses or accepts medications. I was also responsible for ensuring that inmates were cared for during a medical emergency. In this instance, my duties were to follow a specific medical protocol, taking and documenting the inmates vital signs and calling the doctor in charge for further instructions. This included administrating specific medications, or escorting the inmate to the local hospital ER for treatment
I was assigned to 17 counties in Southern Illinois region as a Liquor Control Special Agent 1. My duties included, but were not limited to conducting field investigations concerned with the enforcement of the Illinois Liquor Control Act and its rules and regulations. These field investigations focused on businesses engaged with the manufacture, distribution and retail sale of alcoholic beverages. During the field investigations, I was responsible for examining licensed premises, invoices, receipts, books and records. Upon discovery of Liquor Control Act violations, warning notices and citations were noted and issued to liquor licensees for adjudication of potential penalties and or fines, to citing for formal hearings. I received yearly training in the use of State issued lap top computers to ensure standardized reporting and consistent application of enforcement was documented. I also utilized sensitive and confidential information to investigate background information of liquor licensees. I was responsible for entering fuel receipts and daily mileage log along with the maintenance of a State issued vehicle assigned to me in the performance of my daily duties. Further, I presented expert testimony in the Liquor Control Commissions court cases. I regularly visited local colleges and universities for the recruitment of underage participants to be utilized in the undercover details. During the undercover details, I supervised the underage participants to ensure their safety and identity was not compromised. I also conducted periodic compliance sweeps in conjunction with overstate and local enforcement agencies to check for violations above and beyond Illinois liquor laws.
During my assignment of Site Technician 2, I worked with the public daily, assisting park visitors, and enforcing park rules. I performed skilled and semi-skilled work and routine maintenance and repair of site buildings, which included repairing/ installing drywall, replacement of windows, and roofing, and general plumbing. I performed general maintenance and repair to lawn mowing equipment, vehicles, and other equipment related to the site. I regularly operated and maintained heavy equipment, farm machinery, in addition to cutting and trimming trees at work site. I worked as a functional lead worker, reviewing and directing activities of lower level site workers engaged in site operations. I was licensed through the state of Illinois as a herbicide/ pesticide operator as needed. I informed park visitors of site facilities, programs, rules and regulations daily. I was responsible for handling money to issue permits to park visitors for park pavillion rental. I consistently worked on rough and broken terrain, and was exposed to elements on a year- round basis. I have over twenty eight years of State of Illinois service. I have previous experience as a Drivers Facility Manger with the Illinois Secretary of State, supervising five employees in the day to day operations of a fast paced drivers facility. Currently, I am a certified member of the Menard Tactical Unit, having received 80 hours of basic tactical training. I work on the Menard Emergency Response Team, ensuring safety and security is maintained at the Menard Correctional Facility. I have also had the privilege to be a part of Statewide Tactical Unit call outs to other Illinois Department of Corrections facilities.
