Project Manager

Nrv Home Improvement
Christiansburg, VA
06.2023 - 08.2023
  • As a project manager, my job is to oversee various construction projects that I am responsible for. It is my job to communicate effectively with customers, subcontractor, and other construction professional. I also am responsible for conducting estimates and filling out contracts. It is my duty to ensure a full completion of the scope of work.
  • I also typically work one day per week in the field doing manual labor. This is helping me to become more familiar with the processes involved in construction project.

Intern: Real Estate CAD

Volvo Trucks
Dublin, VA
05.2022 - 08.2022
  • As a Real Estate CAD intern, my primary job consisted of scanning construction drawings and manuals within a specified period of time. After scanning the documents, I then transferred them over to Volvo engineering folder in the computer filing system. Following the transferring of the documents, I then strategically named the numerous files in a way that would be easily navigable. I completed these tasks well ahead of schedule.
  • I was also able to work side by side with many professionals in the construction field. One example of this was when the Volvo Assembly Building was installing a new thermoplastic roofing system. I was able to meet with the contractors at the jobsite to discuss the tasks of the project.
  • Another opportunity I had to work with construction professionals was within the context of numerous budget meetings. I was presented with opportunities to learn the proper techniques in managing a budget for a large company. During the meetings, the cost estimators would go over the costs that would be associated with the various future projects that would be performed around the plant. Each month, adjustments would be made to the overall monthly budgets as well as project budgets using Excel Spreadsheets. This gave me the opportunity to become much more familiar with the features of Excel.
  • With this internship, my communication skills, computer skills, and knowledge of construction management activities were enhanced and strengthened.
