Started off as a temp for seven months starting in 2014 then got hired on as a outbound team member that July.
Did the basic job titles which included loading trailers with freight, sorting non conveyable items and Depal, which is where we would process any items which would then go upstairs and be sorted to the correct door.
After getting the basic functions mastered then I started doing specialty functions within the department which included, Closer, Depal POC, A-sort operator. Each role required multitasking and great communication skills because they were all the main form of communication within the building via radio.
Closer role - Closed trailers thoughtful the shift as they were getting full, also had a deadline of specific trailed that needed cut each day. We would also clean spills and processed any damage on the ground or in the safety nets.
Depal POC - Was in charge of 2-15 team members each day. Focused on freight flow and rotating the team throughout the shift to different roles. Was the main person in depal that the rest of the building would communicated with.
A- Sort operator - Worked on the mezzanine with a team of 3-7 people each day. Our role was to communicate freight flow with the rest of the building and problem solve any adversity that happened during our shift.
Trained and supervised new employees to apply best practices and comply with health and safety procedures and regulations (Trainer for 3 years).
