Accomplishments

  • Supervised team of 6 staff members.
  • Used Microsoft Excel to develop inventory tracking spreadsheets.
  • Served as the Forward Signal Support NCO for Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment in support of Task Force Wolverine during Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR). He was the primary signal support for the Security Force (SECFOR) and assisted the J6 of Advanced Operations Base Syria (AOB-S). His efforts provided vital communications in support of an Operation Detachment Bravo (ODB) and provided communications across the Eastern Syria Security Area (ESSA).
  • Established network capabilities for the Company Command Post using the SIPR/NIPR Access Point (SNAP). He overcame challenges faced with an non-organic piece of equipment but quickly mastered it. His efforts ensured seamless operations as the company established itself on AOB-S. SGT Ward trained platoon RTOs to maintain individual and vehicle mounted radio systems. Not only did he make Soldiers better through his training, but also provided the platoons the ability to troubleshoot and maintain COMMS on their own.
  • Responsible for maintaining Air Force communications on AOB-S. The Joint Radio Relay, Multi functional Information Distributions System, and Situational Awareness Data Link provided ground to air communications and provided visibility of aircraft in flight for the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) within the Joint Operations Center (JOC). SGT Wards hard
    work created consistent invaluable COMMS for the JOC to coordinate major operations and provide direct support to teams across the ESSA.
  • Worked closely with the AOB-S J6 to troubleshoot and fix networking issues to better support the AOB-S support center and JOC. He coordinated with the BDE Signal Chief to make six of nine Joint Battle Command-Platform fully mission capable, using his relationship with the J6 to resource missing parts and install them in the Company's vehicles. SGT Ward's efforts far exceeded his duty position and the scope of his duties however, he handled all challenges with enthusiasm and worked tirelessly to accomplish the mission.
