As a Construction Tech, I oversaw all work on Nebraska Highways, ditches, bridges, culverts. We had to be able to read set plans for the jobs at hand. Be able to understand the blueprints so that we knew the job was getting done the correct way. Most of the time you were out there by yourself, so I have the knowledge and skill of being independent. But I also wasn’t afraid to ask questions, I wanted things done the RIGHT way the first time. I had to enforce rules and regulations to contractors when they weren’t being safe, or doing the correct procedures. I had to run lay down for asphalt on the road. To meet a tons per stations that was set for me in the bid/budget when they engineered the plans. 2 of my projects won smoothness award which is voted the smoothest new road in all of Nebraska. And when we weren’t on inspection, I had to be a surveyor. We surveyed highways, ditches, culverts, bridges. Lot of walking, 3-5 miles a day on uneven terrain. I knew how to run the survey equipment better than anyone. All the “vets” came to me for questions because they knew I knew what I was doing. I edited surveys on the computer, I did everything you’d have to do for surveys from start to finish to get them sent off to Lincoln to start engineering plan sets for future projects.

• Performed daily maintenance tasks such as refueling, lubricating, and adjusting parts.
• Inspected all safety devices before starting operations.
• Reported any mechanical issues with the mower to supervisor immediately.
• Assisted in the repairs of broken equipment or machinery.
• Trained new staff members on how to operate various types of mowers safely.
• Monitored fuel levels in tanks throughout shift to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Collected debris from lawns after mowing activities had been completed.
• Overseen seasonal lawn care tasks, including spring clean-up and fall leaf removal.
• Pruned trees and bushes to improve visibility and shape.
• Performed mulching around trees and garden beds to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
• Supervised and trained landscaping maintenance crew.
