Job Description:
Since my time with the Manor Police Department, I have received three DWI enforcement awards for my efforts to keeping the roadways safe from impaired drivers who pose a significant pubic safety threat to not only themselves, but others. I made it a goal to also attend Basic SWAT School and helped create the SRT team for the Manor Police Department with a few other SWAT certified officers.
I received the Meritorious Award for proactive policing as a rookie with less than a year on the job. I developed a strong interest in enforcing alcohol- and drug-impaired driving laws and have made 87 DWI arrests to date. I responded to a shots fired call involving a homicide, being first on scene unaware where the suspect might be. I entered the residence to help extract two children to bring them to safety and away from harm. My proactive policing also involved stopping a burglary in progress around 0300 hours at a closed gas station. This involved a suspicious sedan with the trunk and door open along with shattered glass that I observed. Five subjects ran out and fled in what was later confirmed to be a freshly stolen vehicle which I was unable to successfully block in. I apprehended one juvenile who fled on foot and the remaining four were later captured by Manor Officers and K9 Unit. That night I recovered stolen merchandise, the stolen vehicle with minimal damage, and all five suspects charged with numerous felony charges. The suspects were later identified and linked to multiple local burglaries involving a group commonly referred to as "The Kia Boys.". As a result, over 50 cases were solved. After 18 months of dedicated impaired-driving enforcement, I was selected for the specialized DWI Enforcement Unit, where I served for 6 months.
