Hardworking and enthusiastic recent graduate with a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience and a variety of research experience as an intern, volunteer and research coordinator. Seeking to use my knowledge of project management, research skills, and my desire to grow to effectively drive forward the research teams contribution to science through research. Research Assistant Intern

Intern at the Detroit Trauma Project working on the Timing study under Dr. Jonavic, investigating trauma exposure over the developmental course of participants who have been seen for studies since conception of this project.

  • Trained to recruit, consent, administer sensory testing, and collect data on: trauma exposure, startle response, parenting style, genomics and psychopathology.
  • HRV, EMG, EKG data processing.
  • Entry of participant interview answers and demographics into REDCap.
  • Collecting biological samples through spit collecting, urine samples, and doing blood draws.
  • Quality control, centrifuging, labeling, and organizing samples for storage into freezers and entering locations and numbers into excel spreadsheets for tracking of shipments for analysis of samples.
  • Participant recruitment and records updating using Ripple, Lexis Nexis, and Google voice.
  • Administrative work like scheduling reminders, scheduling participant sessions to be ran, booking time slots for use of booths and rooms for interviews.

Testing the novel Interactive HPV Education Program (IHVEP) and its effectiveness of increasing vaccine advocacy of HPV-related cancer patients.

  • Update all scripts, protocols, appendixes, and handouts for changes needed for amendments and submit for approval to the Institutional Review Board at WSU.
  • Attending meetings to inform research progress and coordinate tasks with the other research members and outsource for help among Wayne State University and Karmanos staff and Doctors.
  • In person patient recruitment through informed consent at Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit.
  • Running focus group discussions and transcribing the data. Coding and data visualization of the data.
  • Implemented excel spreadsheets to store and organize data for the research project, also ran data visualization in excel.

  • Wrote research abstracts and presented research poster at Warrior Scholars conference, increasing the visibility of the lab’s research.
  • Collaboratively wrote and submitted research paper on the project to Journal of Cancer Education (Under review).
