In May of 2020, I began working for Greenwood Township, where I not only learned how to operate heavy equipment, I also learned the value of being a member of a team. Upon graduating high school in 2021, I moved to rural Texas to work with a family member at his water well company. Although I enjoyed the position I was in, I decided that the fire service was the best option for me. I moved back to Illinois and started taking classes at McHenry County College. I obtained my EMT-B license and WFRD provided me with an opportunity to join their team as a cadet. I was then enrolled in Basic Operations Firefighter, and once I obtained my BOFF certificate, was hired as a part time employee. After a competitive application process, I was successfully admitted to the paramedic program, which I anticipate completing in July of 2025.
