I spent 6 to 7 years at HAECO Cabin Solutions / ZIM, gaining hands-on experience across various aircraft interior assembly lines and consistently embracing new challenges. I began on the seat line, working with 3050 seats at the Walburg facility. When my supervisor was relocated to a new facility at PTP (Piedmont Triad Parkway), he brought me along to assist with the early setup and launch of operations.
At PTP, I started with seat frame assembly and later transitioned to the CCS (Cabin Component Systems) line, where I worked on overhead bins for FlyDubai. I played a key role in organizing the assembly process and took ownership of the line. When production delays were caused by interior component bottlenecks, I proactively learned composite prep and painting to eliminate delays, ensuring the line ran smoothly and minimizing issues before final inspection.
Next, I moved to the Galley line, assembling FlyDubai closets and Sun Country galleys. My responsibilities included installing latches, doors, trim, and structural components. When ahead of schedule, I assisted the Interiors department by prepping, painting, and applying laminate or wallpaper to closet doors and galley units. This cross-functional support ensured a seamless workflow and maintained consistent quality across departments.
When galley production slowed, I spent 1 to 2 years in the Sheet Metal Shop, expanding my skill set. I gained experience in metal part fabrication, bracket installation, drilling, countersinking, and reading engineering drawings, contributing to both prototype and production-level components.
I then transitioned to the newly established Eclipse seat line for FlyDubai, where I worked closely with the Manufacturing Engineer (ME) to develop efficient processes and optimize lean production. I helped design templates and shop aids to improve the line’s functionality, efficiency, and accessibility for new team members. I also contributed to building the first production seating for FlyDubai at HAECO, marking a significant milestone in the company’s operations.
I was part of the first group at HAECO Cabin Solutions / ZIM to earn CO2 Authority (Certified Operator Level 2), which enabled me to inspect and sign off on both my work and others' work, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and quality standards. I also took on a mentoring role, training new team members to take over the lines I helped build. By sharing my knowledge across departments, I empowered others to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently. As a fast learner and adaptable team player, I focused on supporting others to ensure they could continue operations smoothly in my absence.
