I was an EMT for roughly 3 years prior to obtaining my paramedic license. I had planned to continue on to nursing but found I enjoyed being in the field. I went on to obtain my Paramedic as well as my firefighter. I hope to continue my education by obtaining my associates in Emergency medicine. I have continued to help teach further EMTs as well by checking of basic skills for classes as well as participating in statewide events. I do hope to continue on with teaching as well where I can from future EMS to possibly future firefighters.

3 Years 6 Months- Performed basic diagnostic tests such as blood glucose monitoring, EKG readings and urine analysis. Conducted equipment inspections and vehicle checks in adherence with required maintenance schedules. Monitored supplies and equipment inventory and replenished promptly before another emergency call. Organized supplies for ambulance runs including IV solutions, airway management equipment and medication kits. Assessed patients and environment, administered CPR and stabilized patients for transport to hospital. Communicated effectively with other healthcare professionals regarding patient condition and treatment plans. Performed emergency life support and treated sick and injured persons at remote locations. Inserted IVs and administered oral and injectable medications. Provided pre-hospital care to those in need within the community, including administering medications, providing wound care and performing intubations. Provided emotional support for family members of critically ill or injured patients.
