First Aid & CPR/AED

This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to certify the participant in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This course utilizes the American Heart Association guidelines to certification.

HAZWOPER 1: FIRST RESPONDER OPERATIONS LEVEL

First responders at the operations level are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response to the site for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of the release.

HAZWOPER 2: HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECHNICIAN (CLASSROOM)

Hazardous materials technicians are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release.

HAZWOPER 2: HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECHNICIAN (PRACTICAL)

This course is designed to provide the Hazardous Material Technician with hands-on practical training and exercises.

PIPING AND INSTRUMENTATION DIAGRAM (P&ID) READING

The Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) course is an instructor led/hands-on course that will provide personnel with a foundation for reading and interpreting P&IDs that are associated with the PCAPP facility.

CONFINED SPACE (OPERATIONS)

The Confined Space (Operations) training course certifies PCAPP project personnel to take part in work in confined spaces. The course discusses the hazards associated with confined space work, the processes used at the PCAPP project to enter permit and non-perm it confined spaces, and roles and responsibilities. A hands-on portion of the course familiarizes the participants with the equipment used during confined space entries, including ventilation and non-entry rescue equipment.

DYNAMICS OF HEAT STRESS

This course provides an overview of the PCAPP Heat and Cold Stress Program including: definitions, responsibilities, contributing factors, prevention, signs and symptoms, treatment and the Medical Surveillance Program.

ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM USER (CLASSROOM)

The PCAPP Elevated Work Platform User course trains personnel to recognize the safety hazards of working from elevated work platforms (aerial lift equipment), in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's recommendations.

ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM OPERATOR BOOM OR SCISSOR LIFT (PRACTICAL)

The PCAPP Elevated Work Platform course trains personnel to operate aerial lifts safely, in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's recommendations. This course consists of hands-on portion.

FALL PROTECTION (OPERATIONS)

Fall Protection (Operations) is a presentation of Bechtel's basic fall prevention and protection training module. The course covers fall hazard identification, elimination and mitigation methods, and the importance of implementing fall hazard plans. During the course, personnel are introduced to different kinds of fall protection equipment and their proper use.

LOCKOUT/TAGOUT AUTHORIZED EMPLOYEE

This course is designed to ensure the purpose and function of the Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) program is understood by Authorized Employees and the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and rem oval of energy controls are acquired by personnel per OSHA requirements under 29 CFR 1910.147, “Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout).”

LOCKOUT/TAGOUT CERTIFIED & AUTHORIZED EMPLOYEE

This course is designed to ensure the purpose and function of the Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) program is understood by Certified Employees and the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and rem oval of energy controls are acquired by personnel per OSHA requirements under 29 CFR 1910.147, “Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout).”

NFPA-70E AWARENESS

The NFPA-70E Awareness (Non-electrical) course instructs personnel exposed to electrical hazards in the knowledge and skills required to perform electrical related assigned duties and functions in a safe manner so as not to endanger themselves or other employees.

PCAPP OPERATIONS RCRA INSPECTION COURSE

The PCAPP RCRA Inspections Course fulfills the training requirement specified in 24852-OPS-OAP-W0043 Environmental Inspections. This course is designed to ensure that all personnel performing inspections under the RCRA permit have received adequate instruction to complete their RCRA inspections compliantly.

POWERED INDUSTRIAL TRUCK (PRACTICAL)

The purpose of this course is to provide hands-on training for operators. This course covers the STARRT form, equipment inspection and operation. This course meets the requirements of OSHA 1910.178(l) for training forklift operators.

STORING, USING AND HANDLING COMPRESSED GASSES

The purpose of the Storing, Using and Handling Compressed Gasses course is to provide instruction on the proper handling and use of com pressed gas cylinders and their regulators. Regulator design and function theory is taught, as well as proper regulator selection and restrictions on regulator maintenance.


PCAPP HAZARDOUS WASTE WORKER

The PCAPP Hazardous Waste Worker course fulfills the training requirement of the Resource Conservation Recovery Act. As a Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility, PCAPP must comply with many federal, state and local environmental policies. This course will introduce the student to these requirements by explaining where and how PCAPP is affected the regulations throughout the operations and closure phases.

TOXIC AREA TRAINING (TAT) (CLASSROOM)

This course designed to provide personnel with knowledge of their duties and responsibilities while supporting and participating in Toxic Area Entries.

TOXIC AREA TRAINING-LEVEL C (PRACTICAL)

This is part of the overall Toxic Area Training (TAT) training program and is used to track successful completion of Level C entry practical training job performance measure.

TOXIC AREA TRAINING-LEVEL A (PRACTICAL)

This is part of the overall Toxic Area Training (TAT) training program and is used to track successful completion of Level A entry practical training job performance measure.

TOXIC AREA TRAINING-DPE (PRACTICAL)

This is part of the overall Toxic Area Training (TAT) training program and is used to track successful completion of DPE entry practical training job performance measure. Students must complete two training entries.

CIRCUIT BREAKER OPERATIONS

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to operate selected ≤ 480VAC circuit breakers and electrical devices at PCAPP.

BASIC HYDRAULICS

This is an overview of basic hydraulic principles, symbols, and schematics. Safety concerns and best practices regarding hydraulic equipment

HAZARDOUS WASTE GENERATOR

The Hazardous Waste Generator course incorporates specific requirements of the Code of Colorado Regulation 6 (CCR) 1007-3 Part 264.15, including: hazardous waste regulations and procedures; properties of wastes produced at PCAPP, and reporting and recordkeeping requirements; waste accumulation; container management; waste inspections; spill response; and response to site emergencies.

PCAPP WASTE MANAGEMENT

This instructor led course is designed to familiarize new Waste Operators with duties and responsibilities of their job. These duties include waste sampling techniques and tools, waste characterization, waste containerization, toxic area waste handling, waste movement between various sources and permitted storage areas on the PCAPP footprint and the Pueblo Chemical Depot.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AWARENESS

The purpose of this course is to provide awareness -level training on the environmental issues and the environmental compliance approach to be used by all personnel at PCAPP.

HAZARD COMMUNICATION

This course covers training requirements as required by the OSHA Standard 29 CFR1910.1200 and will discuss the PCAPP Hazard Communication Program.

OVER HEAD CRANE OPERATOR (CLASSROOM)

The Overhead Crane Operator course will give personnel an understanding of the types of overhead cranes used on the Project, their features and function, physics used for safe operation, safety rules, and inspection requirements. SAFETY LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP

The Safety Leadership course is designed to provide information on how to move towards a zero-incident culture, using safety leadership tools. Goal is to achieve world class safety status to ensure safe operations that align with our PCAPP Conduct of Operations.

SCAFFOLD USER

The Scaffold User course meets the requirements of OSHA 29 C F R 1910 Subpart D scaffold user training and is designed to increase the awareness level of personnel who work on scaffolding. The course consists of the nature of electrical hazards, fall hazards and falling object hazards; correct procedures for dealing with those hazards; proper handling of materials on scaffolding; maximum intended loads and the load carrying capacities for scaffolding.

SCAFFOLD USER, BUILDER, INSPECTOR/COMPETENT PERSON

The purpose of this course is to provide scaffold inspectors with the regulations, safety guidelines and procedures needed to recognize and eliminate hazards in the field and specific to PCAPP. This course includes a classroom portion and a hands-on portion designed to reinforce the knowledge gained.

PRE-JOB SAFETY PLANNING

The Pre-Job Safety Planning course provides personnel with the knowledge to complete the Safety Task Analysis Risk Reduction Talk (STARRT) Form. In addition, the course teaches how to conduct both Form al and Inform al Pre-Job Briefs. The hands-on portion of the course provides a solid foundation for personnel on how to work as a group, make informed decisions about a simulated task, and proper application of the STARRT Form.
