Summary

I have a little over 8 years of experience in healthcare varying from CNA to recent graduation with my RN. With four years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in mental health, med/surg, long/short term care, & specialty clinics I have developed a strong foundation in direct patient care and holistic nursing practices, which I believe aligns well with the needs of your team. I have a work ethic that’s desirable, compassion and integrity are essential in my approach to patient care. I adapt and learn incredibly fast. I am humbled by my preceptors and I put 100 percent effort into everything I do. I posses an ASN in nursing, and have been accepted into an accredited RN to BSN program and hope to finish with my bachelors in nursing by next summer.

  • As a licensed practical nurse I provide basic nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors in a psychiatric setting. I administer medications as prescribed ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Monitoring and documenting patient vital signs and changes in mental status. I assist with therapeutic activates and facilitating group therapy sessions, I do this while providing emotional support and guidance to each veteran experiencing mental health issues. Reporting and documenting behaviors according to policy and VA standards. My coworkers and I work together as a team to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment through effective de-escalation techniques. I stay up to date with education on management of crisis situations including suicidal ideation, overdose, detox, abuse, and severe agitation. My achievements on the psychiatric unit have been contributing to a decrease in patient falls through effective care and observation. I help foster a supportive atmosphere within the unit by displaying affirmations on bulletin boards for the veterans to read.   • As a student registered nurse, I completed rotations in several different hospitals. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse I assisted with performing patient assessments head to toe, administering IV and oral medications. I was observed inserting/discontinuing IV's, providing bedside care, wound care, and performing ADL's. I interacted with patients and observed procedures performed and assisted with procedures in accordance with my scope of practice. I was responsible for relaying all information and care performed to the appropriate member of the patient's health care team. I collaborated with the medical staff, physicians, and therapists.   • As an LPN in the Urgent Care setting, I was responsible for greeting patients and preparing them for examinations/procedures. Through the VA I am required to stay up to date on continuing education for my license and maintain reeducation for CPR every 3 months. The training consists of modules through a system called "Talent Management System." The modules are prevention and management of disruptive behaviors, synchronous telehealth into the home, RQI BLS, accucheks information training, opioid overdose education and naloxone distribution, environment of care, privacy and HIPPA, etc.

My skills consists of being properly educated in skills taught to a CNA and LPN, and RN. I am compassionate and patient, I have excellent computer skills. I am always eager to learn and consider myself a competent caregiver for all stages of life. My technical skills include proficiency in Microsoft office, multiple platforms for documenting in the EHR. Managing inventory and functionality of equipment. I am great at problem solving and demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills. I can be placed in any environment and pick up quickly what needs to be done and learn fast. I am eager to expand my knowledge and skill set as I advance my career in nursing.
