I was the #2 guy in the shop, I worked side by side with the foreman taking care of day to day operations. My major daily workload during this time was to do the inputting of ductwork for the burn deck. We used Camduct and Autodesk cab to fab.
I left the shop to work in the BIM dept. which was a short 6 month tenure.
I started my journey at SMK as a welder/fabricator in the shop. Over the years I moved into a more senior leadership role. Running the shop when the foreman was away, and programming the burn deck with "Cybermation" software.
I also ran the coil line, and the "Spiral Tech" spiral pipe machine.
I happily worked here until it went out of business in 2009
HJ Burns was a General/Blow Pipe shop. I learned layout, welding, riveting and many other skills that are used in heavier metal work. I worked in the shop, and in the field building and installing blowpipe, cyclones, baghouses, etc.
