Job duties: Daily rounds of boiler, sootblowers, pulverizer feeders, aux turbines and other numerous pumps. Operated plant boiler, turbine-generator, and auxiliary equipment as directed by the Control Operator and Shift Supervisor, for starting, operating, and shutting down the boiler-turbine-generator units and associated facilities. Monitored equipment and reported abnormal conditions to the control room for direct action. Performed necessary operations to clear electrical and mechanical equipment for work and return to service. Assisted in training of Plant Equipment Operators and Trainees. Assisted the control operator in performance of other duties. Performed and directed operations relative to generator load and electrical switching as requested by the System Dispatcher. Operated and directed control of equipment for starting, operating, stopping, actuating, and regulating plant equipment. Monitored control room instruments and reports from other plant operating personnel, noted abnormal conditions, diagnosed trouble and took direct action within established criteria. Maintained a daily log of operations and plant status. Troubleshooting equipment that is broke down and either doing general maintenance to get it up and running or writing up a maintenance request on SAP that goes to the maintenance supervisor. Filling out daily boiler logs on condition of boiler and anything that needs maintenance.
Trained in SAP and trained in issuing clearances for working on equipment using our lock-out-tag-out process. Issued permits for work to be done in a safe, effective manner.

Performed duties daily in our water treatment plant, monitoring equipment such as our UF's, RO's and EDI's. Monitoring the chlorine residual, conductivity and making adjustments with pumps necessary to keep inside our parameters, taking daily logs of the water in different areas of the process. Monitoring the sewage treatment plant and waste water system. Running the Flue-gas desulfurization plant. Removing the ash from the boiler with jet pumps, removing fly ash from the precipitators, adding chemicals to the coal to manage mercury numbers. Running of conveyors and gates to transfer coal into the power plant. Everything was run off a computer system called Ovation, except the water treatment plant.

Operated all equipment used in fuel handling (fork lift, dozer, wheel loader, excavator, backhoe, scraper, 777 truck and bigger trucks, ash and slag removal, and general construction maintenance of Plant properties. Operated conveyors and related equipment. Performed normal operating care maintenance on fuel and ash handling equipment, as required.
