Responsible for all blood bank functions including procedures, preventive maintenance, validations, quality assurance, competency, training of new employees, MLS student rotations, new processes and working and patient testing. Recently involved in changing EMR and BB software to EPIC and SafeTrace respectively. I was a trainer for SafeTrace and continue to update processes and procedures as new issues develop.

Assisted lab manager with auditing, general lab procedures, competencies, duties as assigned.

Also work as a generalist in hematology, coagulation, molecular testing, osmometer, urinalysis.

Worked as a bench tech for 5 years in blood bank, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis then 1 year as a POC coordinator and then blood bank manager for 11 years overseeing responsibilities of 3 hospital blood banks (Tacoma General which included Mary Bridge Children's Hospital), Allenmore Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. All hospitals were CAP accredited, 2 were AABB accredited and 1 was also registered with the FDA.

This was a new position when I started so worked as a bench tech and developed the position as I took on additional blood bank responsibilities. University of Utah performed bone marrow transplants, provided newborn transfusions, irradiated blood products and was a major trauma center.

Worked in hematology and blood bank the first 2 years and then only in blood bank for the remainder of my employment.
