- Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements. Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes. Performs assembly, disassembly or overhaul. Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment. Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components. Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance such as repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results. Accomplish on and off equipment maintenance on aircraft systems and components such as wheel and tire, flight control, landing gear, and performs general heavy airframe maintenance, beyond the capability of other maintenance activities. Performs all phases of the repair and reclamation process for crashed or damaged aircraft utilizing lifting bags, cranes, hoists, slings, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Serves on the flight control team and may coordinate team functions. Advises on and participates in the removal, rigging, and replacement of flight control surfaces, and lavatory units. Performs intermediate level maintenance on aircraft wheel and tires and may also accomplish organizational maintenance such as wheel and tire and brake changes. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, mobility, and command support exercises. Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
