In Sixth grade, I took a trip to Cuba where I was immersed in the culture for 3 months. I cherish this experience, as it opened my eyes to the many ways cultures can sustain themselves. Following my adventures in Cuba, my family and I visited Mexico and then the Bahamas, each trip reinforcing for me at a young age the diverse world we live in. Even so, I found myself being able to connect and make friends in environments so different from the ones I was accustomed to. These trips also established a strong base upon which I began to learn Spanish. I took the AP Spanish test this year.
Apart from my travels, I thrive in school settings, staying engaged and attentive through my studies.
In the summer of 2019, I reached out to some acquaintances about the possibility of providing their lawncare needs. I proved myself able to be able to tend to their yards, so I began to do increasingly more important tasks. I tended to Ping Pong tables donated by one of my clients to the park, and worked doing wildfire prevention at one of my client's cabin.
I find energy when spending time with others, and feel as if this job would be a rejuvenating and wholesome opportunity for me to obtain experience working with others.
