I Tyler Kuiken, would be right for the position of training tech. Because of the many skills I can bring to the job site. I have been training fire fighters for many years on my volunteer department and the new DNR employees. I have trained a lot in fire prevention, team leadership, and wildland fire fighting tactics. I have a high level of experience that I would like to pass on to future fire fighters, both in a classroom setting and in the Tower area. I take many out of state trips each year to better myself and the DNR, by bringing the experience back to my home station.
In the position of Lear fire Fighter, i was responsible for maintaining and keeping the fire personal and equipment fire ready. other task's included getting equipment, including fire engines and tracked vehicles, out of winter storage and returning them to winter storage in the fall.
while in this position i accomplish many certifications in my wildfire carrier. Including incident commander type 4, Heavy Equipment boss, Engine Boss to name a few.
I have been a captain on Morse-Fall Lake Volunteer fire department for 11 years as of 2023, in this position I have lead many fire fighting teams in to various fire and rescue situations. I have also taken the position of training officer on the department. Becoming a structure fire instructor type 1 this year.
Red rock fire was a private wildfire engine company, based out of Tower MN. I started my wildfire carrier at this company in 2006. I mostly traveled to out of state fire assignments with red rock working in many different states and fuel types. The position at red rock also allowed me to work with people from all over the united states, from different agencies, and even different countries.
