I started my career in healthcare as a patient care tech in 2022. Through providing hands on care, all while going through nursing school, I was able to learn and apply the basics of nursing. Last February, I became an LPN and continued to work part time while completing my RN program. I have worked on a rehabilitation unit since the beginning. Here, I take care of many patients of different acuities including strokes, TBIs, and post-surgical patients etc. I have learned so much in my short career and look forward to further honing my skills on an increasingly critical unit. The last semester of my RN program, I completed rotations on the Intensive Care units at Integris Baptist. There were many different ICU specialties but overall I was fond of the care that was provided on these units. The in-depth focus and level of thinking required to work in the ICU has only further increased my desire to start my RN career in the ICU.
