When I started with Palouse, I was an apprentice. I started in Yakima, WA, on the PP&L dock crew, then got moved to Grant County to do a reconductor in Moses Lake. I journeyed out on this job and wanted to come back home.
I was at DJ's for a little bit; this is where I turn into a hot apprentice. There was all kinds of work I did here: some plats, reconductors, viper reclosers, and pole change-outs. Most of the work was in Portland for PGE, but they went to other places with them, like Clark County and PPL property.
I was a second step getting substation hours. This was a short call, the sub was already built but the switch cabinets with million T bodies and 1 span of 230 to finish the getaways out of the sub.
My first real line crew job. From my first to second step of my apprenticeship. Sturgeon was a turnkey job for PGE, a lot of distribution pole change-outs.
I got call out as a groundmen for light rail few weeks go by i got into the NWJATC apprenticeship and stayed there as a cold ape framing and putting up steel pole for the light rail.
I use this job as a stepping stone to the apprenticeship. I learned about pulling pole and string cable. They paid to get my CDL.
As one of my first jobs i was a laborer. daily tasks of setting up foundation forms and pouring concrete.
