A 33 year, award winning senior journalist, I have have lived and covered local news in five states. Everything from major national breaking news to low key community events. Assisting local emergency agencies in getting vital information to the public while also holding the powerful accountable. Every day I meet and tell the stories of citizens in all situations. Victims and families of victims as well as those with needs or just everyday stories. After three decades I consider my self an expert on what the media wants and is looking for and how to navigate those requests and make sure important information is released in an informative and timely manner as the situation allows.
I am up to date on the latest media trends including the importance of a strong social media presence. I have spoken at many career day events at schools and have helped local groups find effective ways to make their voices and concerns heard.
This job has put me in many adverse situations such as major hurricanes, other severe weather situations, small protests to major riots. i have learned how to deal with those dealing with anger, stress, or mental health issues using calm diplomacy and able to diffuse hostile situations while being compassionate to their needs.
