Managed data center operations efficiently. Hardware Installation & Maintenance: Network & Systems Administration: Security and Compliance: Environmental Controls: Documentation and Reporting: Incident Management: Collaboration and Communication:
- Oversaw data center operations, ensuring optimal performance of servers, networks, and critical infrastructure.
- Maintain uptime and availability: Oversee systems and troubleshoot issues to ensure maximum uptime and system reliability.
- Capacity planning and scaling: Plan for future growth by analyzing trends in data usage, hardware needs, and system performance.
- Install and configure servers and hardware: Set up physical hardware such as servers, storage systems, network devices, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, and hardware upgrades.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues: Identify and resolve problems with servers, power supplies, cooling systems, etc.
- Network monitoring and troubleshooting: Ensure proper network operation and address issues related to connectivity, routing, and performance.
- Manage and configure operating systems: Work with systems like Linux, Windows Server, or virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Enforce data security protocols: Implement security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and access control to protect sensitive data.
- Monitor physical security: Oversee surveillance, access controls, and emergency protocols to maintain physical security.
- Monitor temperature and humidity: Ensure that the data center is operating within acceptable environmental conditions to prevent hardware failure.
- Manage power consumption and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply): Ensure backup power systems are functioning and optimize energy usage.
- Create and maintain documentation: Document all configurations, processes, and system changes to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Generate operational reports: Produce reports on system performance, incidents, and other key metrics for senior management or compliance audits.
- Handle system failures and outages: Respond to alarms, diagnose issues, and mitigate downtime.
- Implement incident response plans: Coordinate with teams for effective troubleshooting and resolution of critical incidents.
Vendor and Third-party Coordination:
- Collaborate with vendors: Work with hardware and software suppliers for support, troubleshooting, or hardware replacements.
- Work in cross-functional teams: Collaborate with IT teams, security teams, and management to support the data center's infrastructure.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support: Troubleshoot issues related to servers, storage, networking, and other hardware/software components.
- Escalate issues when necessary: Determine when a problem requires escalation to higher-level technical teams or external vendors.
