-Provide specialized support to families and individuals throughout the labor process.

-Assist doctors during delivery.

-Recover birthing persons and newborns immediately after birth and into the postpartum period, including monitoring vital signs and continuous assessments, assist with breastfeeding, and administer blood transfusions as needed

-Complete intake questionnaires to gather essential patient information, Initiate IV’s and lab draws, EKG’s, and assess fetal status through continuous fetal monitoring

-Circulating nurse in operating room procedures such as cesarean sections, bilateral salpingectomies, cerclage placement, hysterectomies and bladder injury repairs. Foley catheter placements and sterile abdominal preparations.

-Manage postpartum hemorrhages, preeclamptic patients and eclampsia.

-Recover post operative patients including vital signs and continuous assessments for bleeding and pain, glucose monitoring.

-Monitor high risk antenatal patients including hypertension, diabetes and preterm labor.

-Charge nurse role, lead the nursing staff, make nurse assignments, make sure the unit is staffed appropriately for the unit census, attend all the high risk deliveries including vacuum and forceps deliveries.

-Triage obstetric patients for various indications such as labor, preterm labor, hypertension, bleeding, trauma and illnesses.
