I began my Law Enforcement profession in December 1991 as a Patrol Officer with New Castle County Division of Police. I served at each supervisory rank within the Division of Police retiring in 2021 as the Chief of Police. I currently serve as the Director of Public Safety for New Castle County. I have amassed the ability to work closely with team members to achieve the goals we set. I have thorough understanding of leadership, team building, conflict resolution, confidentiality, transparency and honesty. I do not shy from difficult decisions or situations. I am organized and dependable. I effectively communicate all pertinent information to my direct supervisor. I possess the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy. I champion the need for training personnel on how to respond appropriately in crisis situations with detailed protocols and clear communication. I believe in policy development and the process of evaluating the effectiveness of policies.

Coordinating and collaborating public safety responses by the Division of Police, Division of Emergency Services (Paramedics), Division of Emergency Communications and Office of Emergency Management;

Oversees the development of short and long term goals for each Division, interacts routinely with County Council members;

In collaboration with the Chiefs I am responsible for overseeing and the preparation of the capital and operating budgets. The operating budget for the Department exceeds 100 million dollars;

Ensure effective communication from the Department of Public Safety to the County Executive Office;

Maintain liaison with all internal and external agencies that work in conjunction with emergency services;

Involved in the selection process for Chiefs in each division and the coordinator position with the Office of Emergency Management;
